The word Anxiety has been getting a larger spotlight in mainstream media lately as more people are realizing they suffer from it. This disorder can be absolutely crippling and at the very least, a big hindrance to anyone that suffers from it. According to the Mayo Clinic some of the common symptoms of anxiety are Excessive worry, insomnia, feelings of impending doom, fatigue, lack or concentration and racing thoughts.
As a parent to a special needs child, I myself have experienced many of these symptoms. It’s often times forgotten by others, that as a special needs parents we have a lot more planning to do for our daily routines. We have to research schools harder, make sure our children know and use proper bathroom etiquette, remind them to use their words when they want or need something, etc. This is why being plugged into a network of parents that have the same special concerns as you is so important. Even if it’s just exchanging phone numbers with the parents who have children in the same classroom as your child.
The most important take away from this post should be that your are not alone. Feel free to contact Autism But Life Goes On as we are definitely supporters of our Special Needs families.

Singer Toni Braxton and Rapper Bryan “Birdman” Williams appear to have called off their engagement. The pair became romantically involved in May 2016 and later made their first public appearance at the 2016 BET Awards. Both took to Instagram this week as Birdman posted “It’s Over” on Tuesday and shortly after Toni posted ” Starting a new chapter isn’t always an easy choice….but ALWAYS choose to be chosen. Cheers to a new year.”
Fans are taking to social media to voice their thoughts about the split, while the Braxton family has been very quiet about the matter. I have a feeling there might be more details to come.
Gordon Ramsay, host of Fox TV show 24 hours, and his wife Tana Ramsey took to Instagram to wish everyone a Happy New and to announce they are expecting their 5th child. The two seem to be very happy about the news of an addition to their family.
Kalin Bennett, is an 18 year old athlete from Little Rock, Arkansas who is making headlines across the country because he may be the first Autistic Athlete to sign with a Division I sports team. Earlier this month Bennett was recruited by Kent University, a Division I school because of his “stellar athletic record” according to NBC news. The now 6ft 10 inch Bennett did not start out athletically inclined. Like lots of autistic kids he was behind with some of his early childhood development skills as he did not start walking until he was 4 years olds and didn’t start to speak until he was 7. Having accomplished so much over the last few years, the Autism community is overjoyed with the fact that Bennett is breaking barriers. He says that he hopes to inspire other autistic kids and I suspect that will be yet another goal he achieves.
If you’re talking about Entertainment and Movies one title will not elude the conversation, Black Panther. The Marvel Comics super hero movie was released February 13, 2018 and grossed $200 millon dollars it’s opening weekend and over $700 million in it’s first 12 days making it the highest grossing movie of 2018 and the second biggest debut in history(The Washington Post). To put those numbers in perspective, it earned more than the latest Star Wars release according to Forbes.com.
Black Panther looks to be on it’s way to the elites $1 billion club, which only 8 other movies have made it to according to The Wrap. This action packed flick continues to exceed earnings expectations, therefore I suspect that we will be hearing alot more about the Black Panther movie within the next week.
The air in Los Angeles California was even more electric than usual as the 67th edition of the NBA All Star basketball game kicked off there last night at the Staple Center. The very name of the elites game leaves nothing to the imagination in reference to the caliber of players that were competing. Big names like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant brought people from across the country to watch them compete. However, before the time clock started there was a different type of buzz coming from the Staple Center.
Singer Fergie ushered in the game with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, but instead of everyone in the sold out Staple Center standing in silence to honor our flag, there was uncontrollable laughter in the air. Fergie’s sultry rendition of the National Anthem went terribly wrong and not even the players could keep a straight face. The Black Eyed Peas singer called herself a risk taker while telling TMZ “ I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last nightI wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.” The apologetic Fergie spent the day trying to clean up the mess she made at the game, but overall it seems to have added to the All Star game buzz.
