The air in Los Angeles California was even more electric than usual as the 67th edition of the NBA All Star basketball game kicked off there last night at the Staple Center. The very name of the elites game leaves nothing to the imagination in reference to the caliber of players that were competing. Big names like LeBron James, Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant brought people from across the country to watch them compete. However, before the time clock started there was a different type of buzz coming from the Staple Center.
Singer Fergie ushered in the game with the singing of the Star Spangled Banner, but instead of everyone in the sold out Staple Center standing in silence to honor our flag, there was uncontrollable laughter in the air. Fergie’s sultry rendition of the National Anthem went terribly wrong and not even the players could keep a straight face. The Black Eyed Peas singer called herself a risk taker while telling TMZ “ I’ve always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last nightI wanted to try something special for the NBA. I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.” The apologetic Fergie spent the day trying to clean up the mess she made at the game, but overall it seems to have added to the All Star game buzz.
